Building Connections at the August Companionship Cafe

In August, our Compassionate Cafe welcomed NODAC volunteer and artist -Pam Heard, who invited participants to explore their creativity through clay and ceramics as well as mindful movement with Joanna Edge....

This August, friends of the Companionship Cafe had the opportunity to craft something meaningful with their hands, whether it was a pinch pot, a bowl, or a small shrine—each piece serving as a tangible connection to their loved ones. As they shaped the clay, rich conversations blossomed, allowing everyone to share memories and stories about those they hold dear.

We were also fortunate to have Joanna Edge join us, offering mindful movement and breathing exercises to help participants ground themselves in the present moment. These gentle stretches not only fostered physical connection but also opened hearts, creating a space for reflection and emotional support.

Together, these activities helped to bond our compassionate community, through the shared experience of creating, moving, and connecting.

The August Companionship Cafe reminded us of the healing power of creativity and mindfulness as we navigated our journeys of grief and remembrance. Thank you to everyone who participated; your presence made the day truly special.
